Berkeley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They received a blow as they fell 28-13 to the Granada Matadors. If the Yellowjackets were looking for revenge after losing 15-11 to the Matadors when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Berkeley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was CALEB WRIGHT, who picked up 137 receiving yards and one touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of IDAN WADE-CURIEL, who threw for 205 yards and one TD while completing 78.6% of his passes.
Even if they lost, Berkeley's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. MARQUIS RUTLEDGE was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
As for Granada, the win got them back to even at 2-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Skyler Stuart had a dynamite game, rushing for 181 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards.
Berkeley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 48-20 victory against Moreau Catholic on the 27th. As for Granada, they have also already played their next matchup, a 38-21 win against Las Lomas on the 26th.
