Basketball Game Preview: Concordia Mustangs vs. Fort Calhoun Pioneers

Concordia and Fort Calhoun are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Concordia Mustangs will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Fort Calhoun Pioneers at 6:00 p.m.

Last Saturday, Concordia came up short against Duchesne and fell 53-41. The Mustangs have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Concordia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grace Samuelson dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Samuelson a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Charis Hughes, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Calhoun). They claimed a resounding 62-26 win over Brownell Talbot. Winning may never get old, but the Pioneers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Fort Calhoun's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Concordia, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
