Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Golden Valley). Their defense stepped up to hand the Los Banos Tigers a 4-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

Ava Briceno and Cassandra Ramirez scored all four of Golden Valley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Golden Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-6-1. As for Los Banos, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Golden Valley will venture away from home to square off against Buhach Colony at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Los Banos, they will take on Merced at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
