Basketball Recap: Richland Falls Despite Big Games from Kiya Wise and Lanie Marshall

Richland lost against Bishop Carroll back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Richland Rams fell to the Bishop Carroll Huskies 56-52. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Huskies are ranked 89th).

Richland's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lanie Marshall, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, and Kiya Wise, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Marshall continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Macey, who posted 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Bishop Carroll's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adelyn Myers, who went 7 for 15 en route to 14 points and five boards. Myers is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Pablic, who had 14 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Richland's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Bishop Carroll, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Richland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-26 defeat against River Valley on the 25th. As for Bishop Carroll, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-42 victory against Bishop McCort on the 25th.
