Basketball Recap: Hoover's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Thursday

Hoover won the last time they faced Edison and things went their way on Thursday too. The Hoover Patriots strolled past the Edison Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 44-28. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Tigers are ranked 762nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Edison lost, don't look at Angelique Montez. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points and three steals. That's the most points Montez has posted since back in December of 2024.

The win got Hoover back to even at 11-11. As for Edison, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Hoover wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 47-46 victory against Sanger on the 28th. Edison has also already played their next game, a 44-32 defeat against Torres on the 28th.
