Football Game Preview: South Bend Saint Joseph Huskies vs. Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints

The South Bend Saint Joseph Huskies will venture away from home to square off against the Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with South Bend Saint Joseph sitting on four straight wins and Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger on seven.

South Bend Saint Joseph is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Hobart 10-7.

Meanwhile, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger was able to grind out a solid victory over Lebanon on Friday, taking the game 39-27. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Tigers are ranked 62nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Bend Saint Joseph better keep an eye on Aj Shefferly. He was instrumental in Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger's win, rushing for 90 yards on only ten carries. Shefferly was even better on defense, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 234 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

South Bend Saint Joseph's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.

South Bend Saint Joseph was taken down by Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger 41-7 in their previous meeting back in November of 2015. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Huskies were down 28-7.
