Recap: Hillsboro Eagles vs. Graham Steers
The Hillsboro Eagles and the Graham Steers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Hillsboro Eagles had to settle for second. Hillsboro had to suffer through a rough 56-0 loss at the hands of Graham. Having soared to a lofty 56 points in the game before, Hillsboro couldn't push the score so high this time.
Rylan Monsey was his usual excellent self, rushing for 182 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Monsey has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ty Thompson, who rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Hillsboro to a paltry 89 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Graham's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out seven times before it was all said and done. Blake Bergeson was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Hillsboro has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Graham, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Hillsboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Graham will face off against West Plains at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Plains is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
