Baseball Recap: Centennial Takes a Loss

Centennial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 11-5 to the Kell Longhorns. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 5-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Centennial got a good showing from Hunter Josephson, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Josephson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, AJ Hatton and Jake Hickox stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hatton scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Hickox scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Chen, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Kell, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

While Centennial had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
