Recap: Union Knights/Damsels vs. Brookville Raiders
The Union Knights/Damsels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. Their rough 55-30 defeat to Brookville might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Union has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Union saw an underclassman step up: Madalyn Dehart dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 36.7% of Union's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Union struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Brookville posted 11 assists.
Eden Wonderling was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 14 steals for Brookville. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wonderling has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kerstyn Davie, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Union bumped their record down to 1-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Brookville, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5.
Union will face off against Moniteau at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moniteau presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Union in Pennsylvania (Moniteau is ranked 163rd, while Union is ranked 693rd). As for Brookville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Johnsonburg at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Johnsonburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 two weeks ago.
