Basketball Recap: Spencer Piles Up the Points Against Harris County

Spencer had won five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 2-0 to make it six. They blew past the Harris County Tigers, posting an 86-50 victory. That's two games straight that the Greenwave have won by exactly 36 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spencer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dashawn Canty, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. What's more, Canty posted four blocks, the most he's had since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarion Griffin, who had 15 points.

Spencer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harris County only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.

As for Harris County, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly 36 points.

Despite the defeat, Harris County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Miles Robinson put up 19 points and seven rebounds. With that strong performance, Robinson is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game. Another player making a difference was Solomon Sparks, who earned nine points and six boards.

Spencer has already played their next matchup, a 72-42 win against Arlington Christian on the 6th. As for Harris County, they will venture away from home to challenge Hardaway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
