Basketball Recap: Newport Christian Comes Up Short

Newport Christian lost against The Webb Schools last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Newport Christian Seahawks took a 36-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Webb Schools Gauls. That's two games in a row now that the Seahawks have lost by exactly 12 points.

The Webb Schools' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Siena Burke, who posted seven points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Gutierrez, who had two points and seven rebounds.

Newport Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for The Webb Schools, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-10.

The future could be bright for both Newport Christian and The Webb Schools: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Newport Christian will look to extend Samueli Academy's four-game losing streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, The Webb Schools will try to hand San Gabriel Academy their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
