Softball Recap: Gunnison Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Montrose, Gunnison was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Florence Huskies by a score of 6-3. The Cowboys have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Huskies, too.

Reese Japuntich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Mchayla Singer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Kaylee Vincent also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Gunnison's win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gunnison will be taking part in a tournament against Rocky Ford at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Florence, they will head out to take on Mitchell at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
