Softball Recap: Gunnison Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Montrose, Gunnison was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Florence Huskies. That's more bragging rights for the Cowboys, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Reese Japuntich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mykala Singer, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Kaylee Vincent was another key player, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Gunnison's win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Gunnison didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-10 victory against Rocky Ford on the 29th. As for Florence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-1 win against Sierra on the 30th.
