Baseball Game Preview: Wrightstown Tigers vs. Algoma Wolves

The Wrightstown Tigers will face off against the Algoma Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Wrightstown has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Wrightstown made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Little Chute, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-1 on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

Mason Vande Hey made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Algoma and Southern Door meet (six straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Wolves walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Eagles.

Jacob Massey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Algoma is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Algoma saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Neuzil, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Algoma is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Wrightstown, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
