Basketball Game Preview: Rio Linda Knights vs. Colfax Falcons

Rio Linda is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 41-34 win over Placer.

Rio Linda's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Savannah Grant, who posted six points in addition to 11 rebounds and seven assists. Grant has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of LaRay Mitchell, who went 7-for-15 en route to 15 points and five rebounds.

Rio Linda smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive contests.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Falcons on Thursday. Colfax took their game with ease, bagging a 70-25 win over Fairfield. Colfax has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Colfax has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points over those games. Rio Linda's record is now 27-3.
