Basketball Recap: Ridgway Drops Season-High Score on Brockway

Ridgway scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They lost to the Brockway Rovers on the road by a 59-45 margin. The Elker were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rovers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Sophia Schmader was nothing short of spectacular for Brockway: she went 8 of 16 on her way to 26 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. That's the most points Schmader has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Rheanna Spinda, who posted ten points and three steals.

Ridgway's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-5. As for Brockway, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Ridgway will venture away from home to take on DuBois Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. DuBois Central Catholic will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Ridgway surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brockway, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-38 loss against DuBois on the 11th.
