Softball Game Preview: Oelwein Huskies vs. West Central Blue Devils

The Oelwein Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the West Central Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Central took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Oelwein, who comes in off a win.

Oelwein will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Jesup, who they had gone 0-8 against in their eight prior meetings. The Huskies walked away with a 6-3 victory over the J-Hawks on Monday.

Meanwhile, West Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 14-6 to Springville.

Oelwein's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for West Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Oelwein was able to grind out a solid win over West Central in their previous matchup back in June of 2023, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
