Softball Recap: Highland Prep West Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mountainside last Wednesday, Highland Prep West came back down to earth. The HORNETS came up short against the Mayer Wildcats on Monday, falling 21-6.

Aliya Mallinger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Serrano, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Highland Prep West's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mayer, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mayer beat Highland Prep West by a score of 24-11 later that day.
