Baseball Recap: Johnson County Wins Going Away Against Baldwin

While Johnson County put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Baldwin. Everything went the Johnson County Trojans' way against the Baldwin Braves as the Johnson County Trojans made off with an 11-0 win. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Trojans yet this season.

C. Wombles made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Johnson County is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise. Wombles was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, T. Norris and D. Devero did most of the damage at the plate: Norris scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances, while Devero scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Devero also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. S. Stapleton was another key player, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Johnson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .620. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Johnson County's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Baldwin, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson County will challenge Glascock County at 5:30 p.m. on March 25th. As for Baldwin, they will face off against Academy of Richmond County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
