Recap: Aquinas Academy Crusaders vs. Montour Spartans

It was a good run, but the Aquinas Academy Crusaders unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Montour an easy 78-52 victory. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Aquinas Academy has scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Aquinas Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Violet Johnson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. The match was Johnson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ellie Junker, who scored 15 points along with three steals.

Aquinas Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-1. As for Montour, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Aquinas Academy will be home for the holidays to greet St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Joseph will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Aquinas Academy is ranked tenth). As for Montour, they will head out on the road to face off against Seton LaSalle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
