Baseball Game Preview: Elbert County Blue Devils vs. Oglethorpe County Patriots + Official Tickets

For the second straight game, Elbert County will face off against Oglethorpe County. The Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elbert County has three straight victories, Oglethorpe County has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Elbert County beats Oglethorpe County with seven runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Blue Devils never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brody Baker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Baker wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alex Higgingbotham, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Another was Rylan Brown, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Elbert County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in three consecutive games.

Elbert County's record now sits at 13-6. As for Oglethorpe County, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
