Football Game Preview: Catholic of Pointe Coupee Hornets vs. Livonia Wildcats

The Catholic of Pointe Coupee Hornets will square off against the Livonia Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Catholic of Pointe Coupee has given up an average of 28 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Catholic of Pointe Coupee came up short against Westminster Christian Academy and fell 41-28. The loss was the Hornets' first of the season.

Catholic of Pointe Coupee might have lost, but man, Jude Morrison was a machine: he rushed for 165 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 102 yards and a pair of TDs. Morrison was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Myka Nippl was another key player, gaining 90 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Livonia's offense. They were beaten by Sumner 35-0 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 40 points in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Having lost for the first time this season, Catholic of Pointe Coupee fell to 3-1. As for Livonia, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Catholic of Pointe Coupee was able to grind out a solid victory over Livonia when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 42-34. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
