Football Game Preview: Bernalillo Spartans vs. Aztec Tigers + Official Tickets

The Bernalillo Spartans will face off against the Aztec Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Aztec took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Bernalillo, who comes in off a win.

Bernalillo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Kirtland Central 42-0. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Bernalillo's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ulisses Castro, who rushed for 92 yards and two scores on only nine carries, and Mario Molinar, who rushed for 50 yards and a pair of TDs.

Bernalillo didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Kirtland Central to a completion percentage of just 25%. The Spartans weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 44.4%.

Meanwhile, Aztec was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 50-0 defeat at the hands of Moriarty.

The win made it two in a row for Bernalillo and bumps their season record up to 5-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 6.9 yards per carry in those games compared to only 1.65 in the others. As for Aztec, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Bernalillo against Aztec in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 62-12 victory. In that game, the Spartans amassed a halftime lead of 56-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
