Basketball Game Preview: Serra Catholic Eagles vs. Bishop Canevin Crusaders

Serra Catholic is a perfect 3-0 against Bishop Canevin since February of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Serra Catholic Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Bishop Canevin Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. Serra Catholic is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Serra Catholic heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 64-45 to Aquinas Academy, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Despite the loss, Serra Catholic saw an underclassman step up: freshman Bella Dumbroski went 7-for-16 en route to 20 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Dumbroski is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Abby Genes was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Bishop Canevin lost 38-16 to Union Area on Thursday. The game marked the Crusaders' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Bishop Canevin's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Serra Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.

Serra Catholic took their win against Bishop Canevin in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 54-33. Will Serra Catholic repeat their success, or does Bishop Canevin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
