Basketball Recap: Masterman Takes a Loss

If Masterman was feeling good fresh off their 65-33 takedown of Academy of the New Church last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between Masterman and the Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonials didn't end well, with Masterman falling 41-22. While losing is never fun, Masterman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Plymouth Whitemarsh is ranked 119th).

Despite the loss, Masterman still got an impressive performance from Jocelyn Goldstein, who posted 15 points. That was a full 68.2% of Masterman's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Aj Avery was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in December of 2023. Eliza Meersman was another key player, going 5 for 8 on her way to 10 points and three steals.

Masterman's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Plymouth Whitemarsh, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Masterman won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Northeast at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Plymouth Whitemarsh, they will take on Hatboro-Horsham at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
