Basketball Recap: Woodland Christian Extends Home Winning Streak to 18

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Woodland Christian had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top against the Head-Royce Jayhawks by a score of 47-40. The victory was familiar territory for the Cardinals, who have now won three games in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodland Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keziah Maldonado-Lemus, who posted 19 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Maldonado-Lemus a new career-high in points. Bailee Broward was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Woodland Christian pushed their record up to 29-6 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.9 points. As for Head-Royce, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-5.

Coming up, Woodland Christian will host Encinal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Encinal's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches. Head-Royce does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
