Softball Game Preview: Shaw Raiders vs. Manchester Blue Devils

Shaw has gone a perfect 3-0 against Manchester recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses dating back to last season for Shaw and three for Manchester.

On Tuesday, Shaw came up short against Brookstone and fell 10-6.

Michayla Bledsoe made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Gerber, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Manchester had taken Hardaway down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Blue Devils lost 18-8 to the Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Blue Devils have suffered against the Hawks since August 8, 2015.

Addison Painter was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with six stolen bases and two runs. Izabella Aguilar was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs.

Manchester's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Shaw, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Shaw has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Manchester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Shaw took their win against Manchester in their previous matchup back in August of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
