Softball Game Preview: Murray County Indians vs. North Murray Mountaineers

The Murray County Indians will face off against the North Murray Mountaineers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Things were looking good for Murray County after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of LaFayette by a score of 4-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Ramblers: they've now lost six in a row.

Blaklee Ledford was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Meanwhile, North Murray owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. Everything went their way against Pepperell as they made off with an 8-0 win.

North Murray also got a great performance from Chanley Langham as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Langham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Malone, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Beavers, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

North Murray is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-15 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Murray County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-16.
