Soccer Game Preview: Mount Vernon vs. Mount Pisgah Christian

The Mount Vernon Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Mount Pisgah Christian Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Tuesday, Mount Vernon didn't have quite enough to beat Wesleyan and fell 3-2.

Meanwhile, Mount Pisgah Christian fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against The Weber School on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 6-5. Even if Mount Pisgah Christian couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Mount Pisgah Christian is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9. As for Mount Vernon, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.

Everything went Mount Vernon's way against Mount Pisgah Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Mount Vernon made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
