Baseball Recap: Rutgers Prep Takes a Loss

Rutgers Prep came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Princeton Day Panthers, falling 16-10. The Argonauts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Mason Cimini was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Okasha Asrar, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Rutgers Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Princeton Day, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season.

Rutgers Prep and Princeton Day should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Argonauts will take on The Pingry School at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (40 vs. 197). Meanwhile, Princeton Day (ranked 49th) will meet Delaware Valley (ranked 224th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
