Softball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against PikeView on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 4-3. The Raiders just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Maddie Cox spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Katie Mullens made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 8-21. As for PikeView, they pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Liberty will square off against Wyoming East at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for PikeView, they will challenge Capital at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
