Baseball Recap: Early County Wins Going Away Against Pataula Charter Academy

After only two runs in their last contest, Early County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Pataula Charter Academy on Friday. The Early County Bobcats put the hurt on the Pataula Charter Academy Panthers with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Bobcats have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jacob McKie made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Early County got a massive performance out of Eddie Stapleton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, Stapleton posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Christian Grist was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Early County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pataula Charter Academy only posted an OBP of .280.

Early County's record now sits at 3-1. As for Pataula Charter Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Early County will welcome Randolph-Clay at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Early County's pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so Randolph-Clay's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pataula Charter Academy, they will challenge Terrell County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
