Football Recap: Union Pines Piles Up the Points Against West Johnston + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union Pines). They took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 38-6 victory over the West Johnston Wildcats. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Union Pines got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ian Hicks out in front who threw for 204 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground. Those 204 passing yards gave Hicks a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Adrian Colon, who gained 71 total yards and two touchdowns.

The win made it two in a row for Union Pines and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points over those games. As for West Johnston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Pines will head out to square off against South Johnston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Johnston, they will venture away from home to challenge Lee County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
