Baseball Recap: Harvester Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Harvester Christian Academy extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 11-6 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hearts Academy Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-15 on Tuesday.

Harvester Christian Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Young, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Young has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Budder Garnto also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

As for Hearts Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch.

On Hearts Academy's side, Gavin Dyson made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Dyson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kingston Wright, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Jameson Wood was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harvester Christian Academy will head out to square off against Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hearts Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Unity Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.5 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
