Softball Game Preview: Buford Wolves vs. Cherokee Bluff Bears

The Buford Wolves will challenge the Cherokee Bluff Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Buford is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Buford's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Mountain View with a sharp 16-0 victory. Considering the Wolves have won 22 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Cherokee Bluff and Monroe Area meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Bears came out on top against the Purple Hurricanes by a score of 7-4.

The team relied heavily on Jaycee Archer, who fired off three home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Stephenson, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cherokee Bluff kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Buford's win bumped their record up to 26-0. As for Cherokee Bluff, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Buford took their win against Cherokee Bluff in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
