Preview: Western Christian Fighting Lancers vs. Newport Christian Seahawks

Western Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Newport Christian Seahawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Western Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday.

Last Friday, Western Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-42 to Avalon.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was CeCe Balderrama, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Madi Bauer, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Newport Christian, who are still winless after their eighth game. They took a serious blow against San Gabriel Academy last Thursday, falling 41-13.

Western Christian has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for Newport Christian, they bumped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Everything went Western Christian's way against Newport Christian when the teams last played on January 5th as Western Christian made off with a 41-15 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Western Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
