            Football Recap: Coronado Mustangs vs. Caprock Longhorns        
        
		
        
        
            Coronado extended their losing streak  to eight  on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They took  a  36-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Caprock Longhorns. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Longhorns apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in October of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why Coronado lost, don't look at  Campbell Stanek. Despite the final result, he picked up 140 receiving yards.
 Coronado didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Isaiah Doss and  Torrance Cox. Coronado received some extra help from  Jeremih Sartuze, whose fumble return for a touchdown  made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
As for Caprock,  the  victory snapped their losing streak at three games  and leaves them with a 2-5 record. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their ten-point performance the  contest before.
  Ernesto Alvarado had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 301 yards and two  TDs while picking up 13.7 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Coronado is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Amarillo  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Caprock will  square off against  rival Lubbock  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
