Baseball Game Preview: Bremen Lions vs. Knox Redskins

Bremen has gone 7-1 against Knox recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lions will challenge the Redskins at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Bremen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let LaVille get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.

JJ Cencelewski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 matchups.

In other batting news, Bremen let Landon Bates and Jace Pippenger run wild. Bates got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Pippenger got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Bates has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Rouch, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Bremen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as LaVille only posted an OBP of .167.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Knox). They put the hurt on South Bend Career Academy with a sharp 20-2 victory on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Redskins as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Bremen's record is now 18-7. As for Knox, their record now sits at 6-14-2.

Bremen got the 'W' when the teams last played on May 1st against Knox by a conclusive 13-6 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Redskins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
