Basketball Game Preview: Corona del Mar Sea Kings vs. Marina Vikings

The Corona del Mar Sea Kings and the Marina Vikings will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Corona del Mar is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since November 26th last Thursday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 57-25 win over Northwood. Given the Sea Kings' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 878th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Marina, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Newport Harbor 57-30.

Corona del Mar better keep an eye on Rylee Bradley. She was instrumental in Marina's win, putting up 32 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bradley has scored at least a third of Marina's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maria Tejeda, who posted ten points.

Marina's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Corona del Mar, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Corona del Mar came up short against Marina in their previous matchup back in January, falling 47-43. Can Corona del Mar avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
