League recap: Odom throws longest pass in league this season for Henry/West Metro

Minneapolis City recap Sept. 26, 2012

Markell Odom and Darius Hill provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Minneapolis South. The connection went for 76 yards, the longest such play in Minneapolis City this season.

The Tigers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,914 from 12,811. The advance stemmed from a 36-22 victory over Henry/West Metro last week.

Washburn's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Morley Mathewson threw for 159 and two touchdowns and Noah Scarver had 114 yards receiving. On the ground Jeff Jones chipped in 66 yards. Jones helped Washburn's passing attack out by catching one ball for 18 yards.

Odom provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Patriots lost to Minneapolis South. He completed eight passes for 167 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 64 yards. Odom's favorite target this week was Hill, who caught three passes for 92 yards.

Washburn's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Millers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Mathewson has thrown for 498 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Scarver has 16 catches for 230 yards. Raymonte Maynard leads the league in rushing with 377 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Henry/West Metro takes on the Millers. As it stands, the Patriots are in fourth, while Washburn is in first.

Lenny Sedlock's team led Minneapolis City in scoring this week after putting up 36 points on Henry/West Metro.
