Basketball Game Preview: Marshall Phoenix vs. Burton Pumas

Marshall is 0-6 against Burton since January of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Marshall Phoenix will head out to challenge the Burton Pumas at 5:30 p.m. Marshall's defense has only allowed 13 points per game this season, so Burton's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Marshall played against Immaculate Conception and lost via forfeit.

Burton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped last Thursday as they easily beat Immaculate Conception 61-21. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Burton is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.8 points per game. As for Marshall, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Marshall was taken down by Burton 46-12 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can Marshall avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
