Soccer Game Preview: Nevada vs. Baxter

The Nevada Cubs will take on Baxter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nevada's last seven matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Two must be Nevada's lucky number: they beat East Marshall with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Cubs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Mustangs. That's two games straight that Nevada have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Baxter kept a clean sheet against Carroll on Monday. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 8-0 victory. Considering Baxter's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Baxter's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Nevada, they pushed their record up to 6-0-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Nevada beat Baxter by a goal when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 2-1. Will the Cubs repeat their success, or do Baxter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
