Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Skutt Catholic's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Skutt Catholic had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Aquinas on Saturday. The SkyHawks blew past the Monarchs 13-3. Considering the SkyHawks have won five games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison Furlong was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaycie Dai, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Skutt Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

Skutt Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Aquinas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Skutt Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-5 win against Bishop Neumann on the 6th. Aquinas has also already played their next matchup (against Varsity Opponent), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
