Volleyball Recap: GV Christian Triumphs

While GV Christian's win against Las Vegas wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Guardians skirted past the Wildcats 2-1. The Guardians haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

GV Christian can attribute much of their success to Olivia Torres, who had five digs and two aces. That's the most digs Torres has posted over her last six matches. Alyssa Bound-Ybarra also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Despite the defeat, Las Vegas had strong showings from Veanka Escobedo, who had eight digs and two aces, and Millie Mangum, who had 19 assists and four aces. Mangum has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played.

GV Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Las Vegas, they moved to 5-3 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

GV Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas on the 19th. As for Las Vegas, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Green Valley on the 19th.
