Softball Recap: Legend Finds Playoff Glory Versus Cherokee Trail

With a playoff win on the line, Legend rose to the challenge on Saturday. They came out on top against the Cherokee Trail Cougars by a score of 8-4. Eight seems to be a good number for the Titans as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Maddie Kessel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Vienne Wold, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Bryant, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one run.

Legend has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Cherokee Trail, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-5.

Looking ahead, Legend will take on Broomfield at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Cherokee Trail does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
