Recap: Rancho Mirage Rattlers vs. Palm Springs Indians
This season hasn't been kind to the Rancho Mirage Rattlers, who are still winless after their 16th game. They were beaten by Palm Springs 42-12 on Thursday. Rancho Mirage has not had much luck with Palm Springs recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Leading Palm Springs to victory were Shayla Bates and Eiresslee Wells. Bates dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, while Wells dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wells has scored all season. Aja Walker was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Rancho Mirage's loss was their 16th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-16. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.8 points per game. As for Palm Springs, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-13.
Rancho Mirage won't have much time to rest: their next match is against San Jacinto Leadership Academy at 5:15 p.m. on January 19th. As for Palm Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Palm Desert at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Palm Desert focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Thursday.
