Baseball Recap: Coleman Comes Up Short

Coleman had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 9-15 to make it six. They lost 10-0 to the Farwell Eagles. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Comets haven't been shut out since back in April.

Coleman saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyler Young, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

As for Farwell, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-18. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2nd (when they won 17-1).

On Farwell's side, Conner Cousineau made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Cousineau has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hunter Edlin and Asher Yarhouse did most of the damage at the plate: Edlin went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Yarhouse got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Yarhouse has become a key player for Farwell: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 10-17 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Esterline, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coleman will host Montabella at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Farwell, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Marion at 4:00 p.m.
