Baseball Recap: Mt. Whitney Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Mt. Whitney waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Independence Falcons as they made off with an 8-1 win. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 6-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Keegan Oswalt, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli McLennan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Mt. Whitney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Mt. Whitney's record now sits at 8-6-1. As for Independence, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Coming up, Mt. Whitney will head out on the road to take on Porterville at 4:30 p.m. on the 8th. As for Independence, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
