Basketball Recap: Scripps Ranch Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Scripps Ranch won the last time they faced Montgomery and things went their way on Saturday too. The Scripps Ranch Falcons snuck past the Montgomery Aztecs with a 48-42 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Scripps Ranch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Clare Valentine, who went 9 for 17 on her way to 25 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Valentine's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Ree Ree Davis was another key player, putting up 13 points and six boards.

Several Aztecs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Genevieve Whitehead, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Datalia Sanchez, who earned 13 points and three steals.

Scripps Ranch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.

Scripps Ranch will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Cathedral Catholic at 5:30 p.m. As for Montgomery, they will venture away from home to face off against Olympian at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
