Recap: Piner Prospectors vs. Credo Gryphon

The Piner Prospectors's game on Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Credo and snuck past 29-26. That's another feather in the cap for Piner, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Leading Piner to victory were Mialynn Membrilla and Amie Alvarez . Membrilla scored six points, while Alvarez scored six points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Alvarez has scored all season.

Several Gryphon players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reilly Fay, who scored ten points. Fay scored a full 38.5% of Credo's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Maya Leach, who scored eight points.

Piner's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Credo, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 5-9.

Piner and Elsie Allen will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Elsie Allen's defense has only allowed 23.2 points per game this season, so Piner's offense will have their work cut out for Piner. Credo will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sonoma Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
